Almora is a wonderful place to opportunely enjoy
the amazing snows cape of the central Himalayas. Away from

health resorts. The most famous among them is Ranikhet
(1,820 meters from sea level). Ranikhet depicts queen’s
field. It is said that a Rani while spending some time
here once gave this name to the city. During the days of
the British Raj, Ranikhet was a British cantonment.

Chetai Temple
The Chetai temple is dedicated to Lord Golu. Local people
have much faith on this temple. The Chetai temple is
located 8 kms from Almora. This temple is surrounded by
dense fur and pine tree forest. Therefore there are
thousands of little bells hanging there. The view of the
Himalayas is extremely majestic from here. If you are a
nature lover then you will certainly enjoy this place.
Katarmal
This 800-year old Sun Temple is the second in importance
after the Sun Temple of Konark in Orissa. Seven kms away
from Almora this historically significant temple is a fine
specimen of intricate sculpturing. This temple is in need
of restoration now.
Bright End Corner
Bright End Corner is a popular vantage point
located just 2 km from Almora, in Uttaranchal. Named after
Mr. Brighton, this charming spot offers panoramic views of
sun rise and sunset over the snow clad peaks. The place
offers panoramic view of the majestic Himalayas - mostly
spectacular at dawn and dusk. Situated at the end of the
Almora ridge, it lures the tourists with some of the best
views of the horizon.
Nanda Devi Temple
This 1000-year old temple is one of the prime attraction
of Almora. The beautifully carved walls are a sight to
behold here. Every year a festival is held here in which
youth from various mountainous areas come here to
participate in the dance festival.
Kasar Devi
Near Kalimutt is the temple of Kasar Devi. This ancient
temple was raised on a mountain peak in the 2nd century.
The distance between Kalimatt and Kasar Devi is less than
1 km and can be easily accessed by foot. The main town is
6 km away.

Air: The nearest airport is a Pant Nagar (Nainital).
During the summer regular flights are operational.
Rail: The nearest raiway station near Almora is Kathgodam.
Road: Almora is well connected with all-important cities
of India by road.
