ALWAR

Alwar presently is one of the popular tourist destinations in Rajasthan. But in ancient India it was a main political center. Several fights have been fought by warrior clans to bring Alwar district under their control. Finally it was the Rajputs who bring political stability to the district. As a historical district it had been a witness to the exile of the Pandavas and numerous wars of succession.

The history of Alwar traces back to the 18th century, when it was established by Pratap Singh, a Rajput Kachwaha. The city has several palaces displaying the blend of the Rajaput and the Mughal architectural style. Visit the Government museum housing fine Mughal and Rajput paintings belonging to the 18th and 19th centuries.

While traveling Alwar visit its tourist attractions. See majestic forts and attractive temples during Alwar tours. Visit Kankwari Fort, which is situated in the forested region of Sariska National Park. Though the fort is in ruin today, but it still holds old-worldly charm. Another site to visit during Alwar tours is Bala Quila. Just 15km off the city, this fort is built 1,00 ft above the city. It is said that Mughal emperor Babar spent few days here. Also visit Bhartrihari Temple, Hanuman Temple and Neelkanth Temple in your Alwar holidays.
