Brij Festival :
The Brij Festival is held in the month of
March, a few days before the festival of colors, Holi.
This festival is held in the commemoration of Lord
Krishna. The main attraction point of the Brij
Festival of Bharatpur, Rajasthan is the Raslila
Dance, illustrating the eternal love story of Radha
Krishan. The villagers of Bharatpur perform this
dance, dressed in bright and colorful costumes.
Throughout Bharatpur, the sound of folk songs fills
the air and mesmerize people. All the people, men or
women, young or old, participate in the Rajasthan Braj
Mahotsav and drown in its spirit.more..
Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj
A few of the eight imposing towers still stand erect
within the glorious ramparts of the fort. Especially
two of them - Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj are of
special interest. These were built by Maharaja Suraj
Mal to commemorate his victories over the Mughals and
British respectively. The coronation ceremony of the
Jat rulers of Bharatpur was also held at the Jawahar
Burj.
Lohagarh Fort
Lohagarh Fort is one of the forts in Bharatpur
district, Rajasthan that was built by the Jats. The
fort was constructed by Maharaja Suraj Mal.
Impregnable it provided a fabulous shelter against the
foreign invasions. The Lohagarh fort was
surrounded and protected by deep moats. Though
Lohagarh fort lacks the flamboyance of other forts of
the region but its strength and magnificence is
matchless.
The Palace
This royal edifice is a fusion of the Mughal and
Rajput architectural styles with magnificent
apartments and intricately designed floor tiles having
interesting patterns. One can marvel at the ancient
exhibits displayed in the museum in the central pan of
the palace.
Deeg Palace (32Km.)
The famous old fortress of Deeg, which contributed
substantially in the making of the Jat principality,
is now in shambles. Its formidable cannons now lie
abandoned in the forlorn fort.
