Sightseeing in Bundi

Bundi Palace :

Adjacent to the fort and past the bazaar, a wooden gate leads to the beautiful Bundi Palace. The highlight of this palace is the beautiful murals that carry the spectators back into the time of Bundi royalty. The murals cover almost entire palace walls, however, all these areas are not open for public viewing barring the Chitrashala. For visiting other areas, special permission needs to be obtained from the secretary of the Maharaja of Bundi. Photography is not allowed otherwise Bundi palace, illuminated with lights during night, presents a glowing beauty to be captured on camera.

Nawal Sagar :

Bundi -this city is relatively less explored as in comparison to the other tourist destinations in Rajasthan. But if you want to travel along the slightly off beaten track, Bundi is definitely a good bet. You are sure to be enamored by its quaint charm. The Nawal Sagar Lake, Bundi also boasts of a temple right in its center. Dedicated to Varuna, the God of water according to Hindu religious belief, this temple is half submerged in water. The 20th century palace, with an artificial tank and picturesque gardens. Presently, it is the residence of the former ruler (Prior permission of Secretary is required for a visit.)

Shikar Buri :

The royal hunting lodge set amidst the lush surroundings. It is a favourite picnic spot.

Sukh Mahal :

A magnificent summer palace on the Sukh Sagar Lake amid the lush surroundings of a beautiful garden. An underground tunnel is believed to run from the Sukh Mahal to the old palace.

Taragarh -Bundi :

It was built in 1345 and is great ramble around at leisure. This is rather a ramshackle fort, with its overgrown vegetation. The view over the town and surrounding countryside from the top are magical, especially at sun set. Inside the ramparts are huge reservoirs carved out of solid rock, and the Bhim Burj, the largest of the battle- fields, on which there is mounted a famous cannon. Taragarh is reached by steep road leading up the hillside to its enormous gateway.
