Pulga-Kheer Ganga
Pulga is situated in pine forest of Parvati Valley. Now
electricity& phones had reached but still very few Indian
visit this area. Most people turn back after visiting
religious place of Manikaran. This area of camping had
been made popular by 'Western' campers who had been
visiting and some have settled in this valley. Kheer ganga
is further 5 kms. from Pulga and requires tents and
kitchen infrastructure as there is no place to live in.
Hatu Camping
Hatu is situated near Shimla, is at a height of 10500 ft.
Camping here can be done amidst jungle. One can see the
snowline each morning as out of the tent. With a wide
variety of flora and fauna to explore, this camp is ideal
for those looking for nature at it's best. Hatu
also offers pleasant sunset view, supposedly the best in
state. The whole area gets covered in simmering red gold
when the sun is setting behind the ranges. Options for
adventure sports, like rock climbing is also open in Hatu.
Churdhar Camping
This is a 5 hrs climb upto the Shiva temple. The trek
offers striking views of the Kedarnath and Badrinath peaks
and the snow, ranges of Lahaul and Spiti. Many other
smaller treks and walks are also available.
Chail Camping
Chail (2,250 meters) is Situated 45 km. from Shimla. This
was the ‘Summer Capital’ of the erstwhile Patiala State.
The small town is located amid thick woods and has fine
walks. It has the highest cricket ground in the world. The
dense forests around are alive with many species of birds
and animals but it is best known for its ‘Scottish red
Deer' which were introduced by the Maharaja. With its
carpet of lush green meadows and thick Deodar forests,
Chail offers a tranquillity simply unimaginable in today's
fast paced life.
