Chandigarh
Chandigarh has the distinction of being one of the
most beautiful and well planned cities in India. The
city’s gardens and the well placed trees along the roads
have earned Chandigarh the name ‘The City Beautiful ’. The
city has the unique distinction of being the capital of
the states of Punjab, Haryana and the Union territory of
Chandigarh. The city is also the first planned city
in India. Planned and developed by the famous French
architect and city planner Le Corbusier, the city’s roads,
sectors, parks and the city centre are a role model that
many Indian cities have followed later. The city serves as
the gateway to the famous hill station of Shimla and is
also an important aspect of Tourism in Punjab. |
