OOTY
Ooty also known as Udhagamandalam ,the capital of Nilgiri
district,is popularly known as the "Queen of hill
stations' among the tourist places in india. The
height of the hills in the Nilgiri range varies between
2280 and 2290 metres,the highest peak being Doddabetta at
a height of 2623 metres.
Ooty is rich with coffee and tea plantations, trees
like conifers, eucalyptus, pine and wattle. Summer
temperature is rarely higher than 25°c with a minimum of
10°c and winter is distinctly cooler with a high of 21°C
and a low 5°C.

KODAIKANAL
Kodaikanal is located on the southern
ridge of the Palani Hills in the Western Ghats in Tamil
Nadu. Situated at an altitude of 6,854 ft above sea level,
Kodaikanal is a very quite and charming hill resort. Also
known as Kodai, it is a favorite hill destination for
holidayers and honeymooners. The pride of Kodaikanal
is the 'Kurinji-flower', which blossoms once in 12
years. The hill-plantain fruits and plums are known for
their freshness and taste.

COONOOR
The serene hill station of Coonoor lies
in the arms of the Nilgiri Hills. In fact Coonoor
is located at an altitude of 1800 m. Geographically
speaking, Coonoor lies at the head of Hulikal
ravine. This picturesque retreat is covered by grassy
meadows, tea bushes, a profusion of sunflowers, marigolds
and rhododendrons, all growing wild. Coonoor is
essentially a small tea garden town where the weather
remains pleasantly cool throughout the year.

Kotagiri is one of the three popular hill
stations in Tamilnadu, located in the Nilgiri Hills.
It is just an hour's drive from Udhagamandalam, popularly
known as Ooty. Kotagiri is a small hill resort
located amid the lush tea estates. Kotagiri used to be the
summer resort of the British. A seemingly large
number of attractions appeal to those who make a beeline
to this hill resort to escape from the heat and dust of

VELLIANGIRI
HILLS
Velliangiri Hills count amongst the
lesser-known hill stations of Tamilnadu. Of all the
mountain shrines in Kongunadu, the Siva temple of
Velliangiri in the western boundary is considered
to be the most famous. Known as Rajathagiri, Velliangiri,
Dakshin Kailash or Bhoolok Kailash, this sacred spot,
according to legend, is where Siva performed his cosmic
dance on the request of his consort Umadevi.
