About Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal, or Kodai as it's better known, is a quiet hill station at an altitude of 2,195 m, on the southern ridge of the Palani hills in Tamil Nadu India.

It is sitting on an altitude of 6,854 feet above sea level and is among the most visited tourist destinations of South. The 'Princess of Hill Stations' is how sometimes Kodaikanal is referred. Kodaikanal is a place that is completely secluded from the madding crowd and that is what makes it one of the very few loveable hill stations in India. This is the reason why those who visited this hill station have come back enchanted and thrilled.

Major Tourist Attractions of Kodaikanal
Berijam Lake
A great spot for those who wish to live secluded, amidst refreshing as well as charming setting of mother nature. Only a few kilometers from Kodai, this calm and soothing lake is a reservoir of witching fauna. This star shaped lake is famous for its pure water. You may need to take permit from Forest Department 24hrs in advance.
Kodaikanal Trekking
Head for Kodaikanal in the Palani Hills for small-time trekking. You can take short treks and hikes to tourist spots close by as well to local viewpoints. Overnight treks are also possible here where one can spend a night at a local village.
Dolphin's Nose

It is a 10 km hike to Dolphin’s Nose (described earlier). Continue on the well-beaten path to Vellagavi. Just before entering the village and before th small school, is a path to the right which will take you down to Kumbakarai or Tope, as it’s familiarly known. This hike can take anything from three to six hours, depending on how fit you are.
Kukal Cave
Located at a distance of 40 kms from Kodaikanal, it is another place for trekking. Perched among tall mountains, beautiful lakes, virgin forests and colonial legacy laced buildings, Kodaikanal is an experience one would cherish for the rest of their lives.
Getting There
By Air: The nearest airport is Madurai, 120 km away. It is well connected to other airports, especially Chennai.
By Rail: The nearest railhead is Kodai Railway Station, which is 80 km away.
