MARGAO

Margao is situated in the hinterland of southern Goa in Salcete taluka. It is a thriving commercial metropolis linked by rail to the rest of India & Mormugao harbor and the national highways. Margao is Goa's second largest town and a bustling commercial centre. Barely frequented by travellers, this central Goan town has an old-worldly charm about it because of its Old Portuguese churches, and fine country houses decked with dark rosewood furniture.

The administrative headquarters of the South Goa is also located here. It was previously known for its fish market where women-sellers would gather from all over the state to sell their catches, all doing the roaring trade in travel to margao goa.

Tourist Attraction in Margao:
Palolem Beach: Located at a distance of 70 kms from the capital city of Panaji, the Palolem Beach is one of the most beautiful and busy beaches in Goa. The beach has pristine white, pearl like, sands. Palolem is a also a fishing beach. You could hire a fisherman's boat and also spot dolphins. It is an ideal spot to spend a leisure holiday for accommodation is no problem.

Chandor: 13-km east of Margao across the fertile rice fields of Salcete lies sleepy Chandor village, a scattering of tumbledown villas and farmhouses ranged along shady tree-lined lanes. The main reason to venture out here is the splendid Perreira Braganza / Menezes-Braganza house, regarded as the grandest of Goa's colonial mansions.
Sat Burzam Ghor: The Sat Burzam Ghor meaning the House of Seven Roofs is another magnificent piece of history. Though in a state of dilapidation, the mansion reminds us of the architecture brilliance during the Portuguese era.
The Largo de Lgreja: The Largo de Igreja, or the Church of the Holy Spirit as it is also known, dominates the entrance to the city, just north of the Municipal Garden square. The church area is surrounded by beautiful old residential houses still in pristine condition.

How to reach :
Air : Goa's international airport, Dabolim, is 29 km from the capital Panaji. From Goa there are daily flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai etc.
